Benefits of Reciting Quran

Indeed to reflect on Allah’s verses is a form of worship that will draw one close to Allah Most High. Besides religious benefits in the form of rewards, there are other benefits and blessings of the Quran, which one misses by not reciting it on regular bases. Quran is the Book of guidance for the whole of mankind. It was revealed on our beloved Prophet (SAW) who is the last Prophet of Allah Almighty. Allah says:

“Certainly Allah bestowed a Favor upon the believers as He raised among them a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His Verses and purifying them, and teaching them the Book and the wisdom, although they were before (that) certainly in (the) error clear.” (Surah Al-Imran 3:164)

Quran is the Divine book towards which Muslims turn when there is any problem because the Quran has the solution to every problem and it is a guide for every aspect of life. Allah Almighty said in the Quran:

كَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا فِيكُمْ رَسُولًا مِّنكُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْكُمْ آيَاتِنَا وَيُزَكِّيكُمْ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَيُعَلِّمُكُم مَّا لَمْ تَكُونُوا تَعْلَمُونَ

“We sent among you a Messenger from you (who) recites to you Our verses and purifies you and teaches you the Book and the wisdom and teaches you what not you were knowing.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:151)

The Quran is a source of guidance, inspiration, healing, and cure. In fact, it’s well-proven as a medicament for black magic and the evil eye. Verily, the noble Qu’ran is Allah’s word, not His creation. It’s a guided scripture revealed to the blessed Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) over a period of twenty-three years. Allah says:

“This is the Book (the Quran), whereof there is no doubt, guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqoon [the pious].” (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:2)

The only book whose recitation is a form of worship and source of reward. This definition can be applied to no other book or speech. The Qur’an is as well a singular scripture which thousands of people have committed to memory. The exploits and merits derived from this holy book can not be overemphasized.

There are some reasons to read the Quran every day:

  1. Reading and reflecting over the Qur’an fulfils an Islamic duty
  2. The Qur’an will be a proof for us on the Day of Judgment
  3. The Qur’an will intercede for us on the Day of Judgment
  4. Your status in this life will be raised
  5. You will be from the best of the people
  6. The Qur’an will lead you to Paradise
  7. Reading the Qur’an Purifies You
  8. There are ten rewards for each letter you recite from the Qur’an
  9. The reciters of the Qur’an will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels
  10. Your position in Paradise is determined by the amount of Qur’an you memorize in this life

The words of Allah are sacred, and thus its spiritual dimensions are beyond our vision and reach. What we don’t know regarding these dimensions are more than what we do know. Therefore, it has uncountable benefits, which are attained only by reading. Allah says:

“Do you order [the] people [the] righteousness and you forget yourselves, while you [you] recite the Book? Then, will not you use reason?”(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:44)

Quran is the Holy Book based on the words of Allah (SWT). Allah Almighty Himself took responsibility for its protection until the Day of Judgment. Allah says in the Quran:

وَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ الْقُرْآنَ جَعَلْنَا بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ حِجَابًا مَّسْتُورًا

“And when you recite the Quran, We place between you and between those who (do) not believe in the Hereafter a barrier hidden.” (Surah Al-Isra` 17:45)

Among the uniqueness of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was that Allah blessed him with things that were exceptionally exclusive for him and his ummah. Besides the Qur’an is the word of Allah, it also serves as a healing and protection for mankind. Certain verses of the Qur’an can be invoked for protection against the evils of mischief doers.

Allah Almighty says in The Holy Quran:

  • “We have not neglected in the Register a thing.”  (Al-An am 6:38)
  • “But remind by the Quran whoever fears my threat.” (Qaf 50:45)
  • “And he swore to them both, that he was their sincere adviser.” (Surah Al-Araf, 21)
  • “(So also on such) as have made Qur’an into shreds (as they please).” (Surah Al-Hijr, 91)
  • “This is a Book (the Quran) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember.” (Qur’an Sad 38: 29)
  • “And we send down of the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers.” (Al-Isra 17:82)
  • “The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong).” (Al-Baqarah 2:185)

Qur’an protects you from the devil you know and the devil you don’t know. The evil you’ve heard of and the evil you’ve never heard of. The evil that is near to you and the evil that is far from you. The visible evil and invisible evil. Allah says:

“Establish the prayer, at the decline (of) the sun till (the) darkness (of) the night and Quran at dawn, indeed, the Quran (at) the dawn is ever witnessed.” (Surah Al-Isra` 17:78)

If someone wants to connect with Allah Almighty by heart then firstly he/she should connect with the words of Allah (SWT) the Glorious Quran in a way that it directly impacts the heart, because it’s the heart that believes in Allah Almighty. Allah says:

“Or add to it, and recite the Quran (with) measured rhythmic receipt.” (Surah Al-Muzammil 73:4)

In one of the narrations, it’s reported that Allah will honour and elevate the one who reads and memorize the Qur’an. He will be asked to read as he does in the world. The more he reads, the higher his elevation in paradise.

Some Rewards, Benefits, and Blessings of reciting Quran daily are mentioned below:

The noble Qur’an has one hundred and fourteen chapters. Reciting every one of these chapters may be cumbersome overnight. The Quran is a source of guidance, inspiration, healing, and cure. In fact, it’s well-proven as a medicament for black magic and the evil eye. Allah says:

“So high (above all) (is) Allah the King, the True. And (do) not hasten with the Quran before [that] is completed to you its revelation, and say, “My Lord! Increase me (in) knowledge.” (Surah Ta-Ha 20:114)
